I remember looking at Ben 7 months out from our wedding day and saying “if we could start the planning all over again, I’d book Bex for our ceremony.”
He didn’t know what a celebrant was, or who Bex was, but he responded “well, why don’t we?”
We had already postponed and pivoted plans, so why not start our ceremony from scratch too?
1. Your day, your way
Throw away the wedding rule book and write your own. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later.
Removing the restrictions traditionally legal ceremonies hold provides so much room for you to put your own stamp on the day.
If you want to take shots during your ceremony? Do shots at your ceremony.
You want to have a sing along half way through? Have a sing along.
Your wedding day is about YOU and your ceremony should be too.
2. More than a ceremony
The personal element a Celebrant brings to your wedding is one of the biggest reasons to choose one and this really manifested itself in our ceremony.
Our ceremony successfully took our friends and family on a trip down memory lane.
Not only was Bex telling our love story, but she was able to highlight, and thank, the important people in the room who played such part in us becoming The Draffans.
From our family that raised us, our friends that grew up with us, loving us through each and every awkward phase to the adult friends we made through work, and those that we made together.
This was important to us because while we knew it was our day, we wouldn’t be us without all of them.
Bless my dad – he said he learned more about us in our ceremony than he knew before!
3. Wedding Bestie
Taken directly from her website, “I vow to be your total wedding bestie” — and that she was.
Booking Bex meant that we were getting a wedding bestie but we also gained a life long friend through it.
I will forever look back on our day knowing a friend married us and be grateful that it wasn’t a stranger.
It’s funny how trusting someone with your most intimate moments and inviting them along to life’s biggest party with all your friends and family will build a bond like that.
4. Readings (but the fun kind)
Again, your ceremony your way.
We wanted to find a way to involve loved ones and Bex helped us do just that!
Through the help of Bex, we were able to include one of our favourite shows ‘Friends’.
His sister, Kayleigh read THE ONE WHERE YOU GOT MARRIED BY KATELYN PETERSON.
This was followed by “Oh the places you’ll go” by Dr. Seuss read by his mum, Jeanette.

5. Wearer of many hats
Bex truly was our party starter, guest wrangler, and ultimate hype woman. Her official titles were Celebrant and MC but we know she did so much more than that!
We hired her to MC the day because we thought.. the more Bex, the better, right?
She oohed and ahhed throughout the day at all of the details I tirelessly organised (shout out for the moral support on IG during the planning days). Kept us on schedule, corralled stragglers to the wedding breakfast, obsessed over my shoes, danced with friends, cried with family, and genuinely just fit seamlessly amongst our favourite people.
Book her BFF (MC) Package – I promise you won’t regret it.
